Day 1

Day 1 - Manaus - Riverside Community - Piranha Fishing - Regional Exploration

River Sunset Nocturnal Wildlife Observation | Lake Acajatuba Departure from Manaus at approximately 9a.m., heading toward Highway AM-070. Along the way, we cross the Jornalista Phelippe Daou Bridge, known as the Rio Negro Bridge, offering a panoramic view of the impressive Rio Negro — the largest blackwater river in the world. After traveling about 55 km, we arrive at the village of Ubim, where we board our boat and begin our river journey.

The navigation takes place aboard a private boat, traveling through rivers, channels, and seasonally flooded forests. This first river exploration allows guests to become familiar with the region while the guide introduces the local environment, explains the natural cycles of the forest, and shares insights into riverside life in the Amazon.

Arrival at Amazon Camp Lodge and accommodation in the camp, built in traditional stilt-house style using locally sourced materials, in harmony with the region’s traditional riverside architecture. After settling in, the guide meets with the group to present the Amazon experiences scheduled during the stay, according to the length of the program booked. A traditional regional lunch is served at the camp.

After a short rest, we continue by motorized canoe to visit the Acajatuba community, a riverside village known for its strong commitment to community-based tourism. The local host leads activities involving families, especially young people, promoting knowledge about sustainability, traditional handicrafts, respect for nature, and the appreciation of the Amazon’s rich biodiversity as part of everyday life.

Next, we head into a flooded forest area for an authentic piranha fishing experience, using rod and hook, a traditional fishing method still practiced by local riverside communities. This activity offers a hands-on connection with local knowledge and the close relationship between people and the river. In the late afternoon, we navigate across the lake to witness one of the most iconic moments in the Amazon: the sunset over the river.

As night falls, we begin a guided nocturnal wildlife observation, when the forest comes alive with new sounds and movements. It is a unique opportunity to observe animals active at night and experience the transformation of the rainforest after dark. Return to the camp for a traditional Amazonian dinner, followed by a restful night surrounded by the natural sounds of the forest. Meals included: L/D

Day 2

Day 2 - Sunrise in the forest - Jungle hike - Dolphin watching - Return to Manaus

Sunrise in the jungle is an incredible experience, you can hear the forest waking up in the early hours of the morning with sounds that promote a true symphony of nature. Slowly the voice of the forest takes on great proportions and blends with the sounds of frogs, monkeys, birds, crickets and the rustling of leaves in the big trees. It's time to get up and enjoy a typical Amazonian breakfast, a table bathed in colors and flavors that spring from the earth, promoting a true gastronomic experience.

Soon after breakfast, it's time to start another adventure, and this time we'll be hiking in the Amazon rainforest. Giant trees like the kapok dominate the landscape, while orchids and bromeliads adorn trunks and branches. Various palm trees, including “açaí” and “buriti”, are also common, as are medicinal plants used by local communities. Animals include monkeys such as the howler monkey and the Sagui, colorful birds, as well as lizards, snakes and sloths.

On the way back, we will visit the floating base located on Lake Acajatuba to learn about the family project supported by ICMBIO to observe and monitor the dolphins - an opportunity to see the largest mammals of the Amazon rivers up close and free in their habitat. Return to the camp for lunch and then head back to Manaus, with arrival scheduled for 4pm.
